Very helpful. Talked to me without an appointment and everything
Only two people working there. One girl one guy. The lady take care 3 people. The other guy one. That guy seems to work really slow. And he will attended you whenever he want
Called, made an appointment. The guard is gruff, but that is probably because he is close to retirement and is meant to be a guard, not answer any tax related questions. He was OK with me because we were both "no nonsense". I came checked in and sat down while he wasn't there. When he came I said, "How are you doing"? He said, "Fine. Thank you.". Then he asked if I had an appointment. I did for 10AM ET, so I let him know. He said OK. Some other people came in and he asked if they had an appointment and they said no. He said it is appointment only but they continued to walk in. He had to get up to point to the sign and explain again. Another set of people came in and the same thing happened. I'm sure he gets tired of explaining something very simple like that. At 9:35AM, my number was called so I let the guy know I was the 10AM appt, so if there was any appt before me I didn't want to jump ahead of anyone. Someone who arrived after me said he was the 9:30AM appt, so I told him to go ahead. When he finished around 9:45AM I peeked in and let him know that I was early but whenever they were ready I would be able to sit at the desk and explain my case. I thought I would have to go into complete detail of a complicated case. Over the phone agents were stumped to figure out where my refund was held up. The person I spoke to at the Bethlehem office took about 15 minutes and had ALL the answers. Overall very satisfied.
This place is a dumpster fire. I've come 2x and simply was told there is a four hour wait. Today I'm back for the same problem, since I'm off, and have invested 2 hours so far. There are not enough staff to handle the volume, as in, there is 1 staff person. All parking is paid parking so there is that gem of the experience too. The armed security guard adds a special something to the mix, a combination of arrogance and indifference- people approach him with questions since there is no one to ask! There are not enough chairs for everyone. When the kids start screaming they need to use the bathroom it gets real fun because someone who invested 3 hours in no way can miss their call over a bathroom break. Driving to Philadelphia IRS may be a better option. And one more thing - a protip- if you show up at 8:30am and have a later numbered ticket, they close sharply for 1 hour lunch at 12:30, where you are free to go to your car and pound the steering wheel while you wait another hour.
This place is a waste of time. A waste of government money. A waste of space. The guard is a complete douchebag. Sat there for 2 hours and they did not help me and the place was empty!!!!!!!!!!
